- 11-06-2021 - The FSF and GNU move the official IRC channels to the Libera.chat network: As a result of this meeting and our review, the FSF and GNU have decided to move our IRC channels to Libera.Chat. Effective immediately, Libera is the official home of our channels, which include, but are not limited to, all of the #fsf, #gnu, and #libreplanet namespaces. (VIEW)
- 15-06-2021 - FSF and GNU plan update to move IRC channels to Libera.Chat: The #fsf and #gnu channels on the Freenode network are considered unofficial and will not be moderated by FSF staff or GNU volunteers. In order not to confuse users, who might think that the #fsf and #gnu channels on Freenode are the official channels of our organizations, the alias irc.gnu.org is immediately withdrawn. Instead, it now points to a server of ours that will notify IRC clients trying to connect to it of our migration to the Libera.Chat network. (VIEW)
