KDE Applications 19.04 receives its first maintenance update

KDE Applications 19.04

The KDE project today announced the availability of the first of three maintenance updates for the recently released KDE Applications 19.04, open source office suite for Linux systems.

Arriving three weeks after the main release, KDE Applications 19.04.1 contains many fixes and translation updates for various applications, including Ark, Cantor, Dolphin, Kdenlive, Kontact, Spectacle, and Umbrello.

More than 125 changes are included in the KDE Applications 19.04.1 release, with improvements to file tagging on the desktop so files don't end up with a truncated name, KMail's text sharing extension no longer freezes, and there are several regressions in the Kdenlive video editor.

The Ark archive and Dolphin manager can now be added as favorites in the GNOME graphical environment, the Spectacle screenshot utility now sets compression levels to 50 for PNG files, and the Okular image viewer now supports Qt 5.10 or upper and poppler 0.58 or higher.

KDE Applications 19.04.2 is coming June 6

The development cycle of KDE Applications 19.04 will continue and a second maintenance update, KDE Applications 19.04.2, will arrive on June 6. After that we will have the third and final update expected on July 11.

In the meantime, if you are a KDE Applications 19.04 user, we recommend that you install the update as soon as possible, or when the packages reach the stable repositories of your favorite distribution.
