Kwort: very light argentinian distro

Pepe, one of our readers, regarding the article on the best Argentine Linux distros, he told us about one that did not appear on the list and that, honestly, I did not know: Kwort. Kwort is a modern, fast and easy-to-use Linux distribution that combine Openbox and other useful tools for a powerful desktop. I recommend that you take a look.

Key features

  • Kwort is based on Slackware, so it is robust, uncluttered and very easy to extend.
  • It uses "Openbox", instead of KDE or GNOME, which makes it more lightweight.
  • It uses a package manager called "Kpkg", which can help you install or remove programs easily.
  • It is a GNU / Linux distribution based on the 'Linux From Scratch' standards. The original idea of the development was to create a 100% GPL system, using only applications that run under console.
  • It is intended for advanced / intermediate users.
  • To see a complete list of its characteristics, I recommend visiting your page on Distrowatch.
Requirements
  • Processor: PC i486 or higher.
  • RAM: 16Mb for the base system (minimum). 32Mb for desktop (minimum), 64Mb recommended.
  • Disk space: 200Mb for the basic system, 1.8Gb for the desktop system (Openoffice included).
  • Recommended Internet connection: for upgrades. Based on Slackware.
Thanks Pepe!

I didn't know it either ... it seems quite interesting! I'm going to take a look at it. Above I liked the little PC it asks for, perfect for one that I have at home 😉
