At the request of the public who follow Let's Use Linux, we once again kick off our monthly competition. The idea is very simple: share a screenshot of your desktop on our social networks and show the world that Linux can also be obtained luxurious and visually appealing desks. Mint or Ubuntu? Debian or Fedora? Arch or openSUSE? ¿Which distros will appear in our Top this month? The best 10 captures will appear in a special post on the 15th of each month.
How to participate
- Get a screenshot of the desktop. To do this, you can use the PrintScreen key (or PrtSc, on English keyboards). It is also possible to use specialized tools, such as Shutter.
- Share the capture on our social networks. The different possibilities are:
- Join our community on Google+, and publish your capture in the section .
- Follow us on Facebook o Diaspora and publish your capture on our wall.
What should i include
The following should be included as a minimum:
- 1 desktop capture
- Distribution
- Desktop environment
- Theme
- Icons
- desktop wallpaper
It is also recommended to include any description about widgets or other applications used (Conky theme, etc.).
Selection criteria for the top 10 of the month
Generally speaking, the originality, creativity and overall aesthetics of the desktop will be judged.
Although the opinion of our followers will be taken into account, expressed in the amount of +1 o I like it that each catch can accumulate, the selection criteria will be broader:
- Amount of +1 o I like it
- Does it include a detailed description so that it can be "copied"?
- It will try to select diverse desktop environments and distributions
This means that this contest does not automatically reflect the preference of our followers and, eventually, some captures with fewer votes but with a very detailed description (including links, etc.) or that involve little known desktops and / or distributions may appear in the top 10.
This same competition will be repeated every month.
I always think this is a good idea, Gnu / Linux desktops are the best in customization and design of all OS, and the world should know that.
Excellent .. In fact, many of the users who post theirs in the forum could participate 😀
In fact, that was done a long time ago at GUTL.
In fact, that was done before in UsemosLinux and other blogs, before in GUTL.
Excellent. Following the example of GUTL.
The same thing that I put in the previous comment and I tell you more, before GUTL, the guys from humanOS did, what the blog does not look like outside of Cuba.
Okay. Unfortunately, not all Cuban Free Software communities are accessible.
Haha… nooo .. We have been doing it for a LONG time in Let's use Linux. 🙂
I can attest to that.
Hello,
I love the wallpaper !!!! link??? I want it !!!!
salu2
The link is in the description of the capture… 🙂
Thanks, I already post mine.
I hope you like them.
do the catches have to be current? Can I post a screenshot of how my desktop had before?
I don't think they have to be current. You will have to ask the organizer 😀
No, as long as they are not from long ago. The idea is to show modern desks.
Cheers! Paul.
XD the section of let's use linux that I remember, when the finalist comes out that you can see the images in good quality 😀
I just shared my Debian Xfce via facebook 😀
They never get into Diaspora haha and they have not commented on it e__e
The problem is that Diaspora does not allow automatic publication x RSS. It is a topic that we have already discussed several times ... Diaspora has that HUGE limitation ... if not, I would have very seriously considered abandoning the rest of the networks.
Well, I have already put mine !!!!! There are very good ones, there is a lot of work around here !!!
It would be nice to also attach the hardware specifications, just to get an idea.
