With a market as competitive as that of instant messengers, nobody can rest on their laurels, much less the one that is the most popular today. WhatsApp, Facebook (Its current owner) knows this and that is why it is working hastily on new improvements that it will include in its next versions.
For now we already have the June 2015 update which includes, among many other improvements, a visual interface adapted to the latest styles of the two main operating systems, on the one hand, in WhatsApp for Android it has the new material style design, which matches with Android 5.1, on the other hand, in iOS it has a design very similar to the native applications in the most current version.
