Android, the OpenSource of 2011

Just two days ago Tina Toledo he was telling us something interesting. It was about Open Source that according to PC World, we should look carefully in this 2012. The interesting thing is that ... Android it was not on the list.

  • Why? ...
  • Perhaps Android not important enough yet? ...

The fact is, nothing could be further from the truth. Android this 2011 without a doubt it was the Open Source of the year, the most talked about, the most talked about.
To tell you more about it, I will rely on data taken from an article by ostatic.com as well as in several articles that you have been able to read on this site throughout these months.

Many are those who still look askance at Linux, nevertheless they delight in looking at the next HTC that will hit the market, as well as adore their Samsung Galaxy S II. Incredibly they do not know that they are using what they fear / hate so much: Linux 😀

The United States (US) market is the one that has given the best reception to Android, getting to surpass this to the so popular iOS de Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), in market as well as also in downloads (yes, just popular, I have more adjectives to use but the idea is not to make a biased article).
The statistics for you to see, I leave them right here:

These statistics refer solely and exclusively to the market for U.S., last October and November. How can you appreciate Android has an increase in the market between these months, thus positioning itself at the top of the OS market for Smartphones.

But also, as if this were not enough ... the amazing and surprising purchase of Motorola Mobility by Google it will undoubtedly bring positive changes in 2012.
This news that made many of us happy and took everyone by surprise, appeared and as quickly as it spread through the internet, that's how quickly people have stopped talking about it. What will Google up to now? ... Why this silence?
Questions that something tells me will be answered in this coming year 😉

But, this alone doesn't make Android was (in my opinion) the OpenSource year.

It happens that it started as an OS (Operating System) for Smartphones, however can now be installed on our computers, we even recently gave them details of how the advance is going From this project.

It also has more than one fork, one of Amazon and another just from Dell y Baidu, and the incredible number of 700.000 daily activations, which explains why the statistics above are displayed that way 🙂

However you look at it, the growth is exponential, enjoyable for us fans and alarming / worrying for the competition 😀

This 2012 will bring excellent surprises for everyone, just wait for them 😉

Greetings.

PD: Earlier I said that the U.S. is the one that has given the best reception to AndroidWell, I just read that Argentina it is the only Latin American country where Android beats iOS.
